Stepping up in fight to save services at Darlington Memorial Hospital

Did you see Jenny Chapman on Sunday Politics over the weekend?

Jenny, who was recently joined by Richmond (N Yorks) MP Rishi Sunak in her support for our campaign, spoke about the need to up the ante against the proposals to downgrade vital health services at Darlington Memorial Hospital.

Jenny said:

It (saving services) matters hugely to everybody who lives in Darlington and beyond that we keep our hospital the way it is. We don’t want to see a downgrade of our A&E, we don’t want to lose consultant-led maternity unit.

These things really matter.

Rishi Sunak also added:

If we were to lose certain services at Darlington Hospital some of my constituents would be faced with a 120 mile round trip to get to the next available hospital.

In further news Darlington Borough Council, who voted unanimously, to help protect services at the hospital have also announced they will hold a public select committee inquiry into the STP proposals. The meeting will be held on 17th February at 1pm – you can click the link to find out more.
