Jenny Chapman MP

Plea of tolerance

Jenny helps Muslim women in Darlington campaign for tolerance.

Jenny yesterday contacted Darlington police chiefs after meeting three young Muslim women from the town who are campaigning against intolerance. The students visited Jenny at her local HQ and described how some Muslim women had encountered abuse, often because they were wearing a veil,  while walking in Darlington. Young and middle-aged women have been sworn at and spat at. One man even lashed out at a pram with a baby in it, the students told Jenny. They are asking the community to show more consideration.
